FAQs

How do I prevent my mask from fogging?
We find the most effective way to prevent fogging of your mask is to burn the inside lenses, followed by a toothpaste scrub. This only needs to be done once, before your first use. This removes the residue left over from the glass production that causes fogging. Please see the link below for a great tutorial.
**Please note this is to be done at your own risk as using incorrectly can cause damage to the mask silicone. If your are uncomfortable using a lighter you can just do the toothpaste scrub which is also very effective at removing the residue

How do your belts differ to regular belts?
Kiwa weight belts are made from 100% silicone with a progressive stretch offering great flexibility. They are able to be done up tightly to stay firm on your hips without being uncomfortable. When diving deep the belt contracts with your body to stay snug unlike maybe rubber or webbed counterparts.

Are Kiwa belts quick-release?
Yes, Kiwa belts have a quick-release stainless roller buckle (one of the fastest release belts on the market) The belts are designed so in an emergency if the tail end can be pulled causing the buckle pin to effetely come out and not re-enter another hole on it's own.

Can I get a smaller or larger size?
We are now offer an Extra Long (XL) size belts at 180cm (5.9 foot) long! While we do not always carry every colour this size in stock, please message us to pre order one! All our standards belts are 134cm (4.4 foot) long. The silicone can easily be cut shorter if you find it is too long.
SPACE
How much weight can I put on my belt?
Optimal comfort is recommended for up to ~7kg. We recommend using single lead weights of 0.5-1kg each, distributed evenly around the belt (2kg weights are more likely to 'flop' due to the flexible nature of our belts).

Can I wear it SCUBA diving?
Yes, we have many people using this belt for SCUBA as well as freediving, we recommend using it in conjunction with integrated BCD weights, as generally SCUBA requires more lead weight than freediving.
SPACE
How much weight do I need to wear?
The correct amount of weight is dependent on what activities you are carrying out and how deep you a diving. As a rule of thumb - you should never wear enough lead weight that you sink on the surface when you exhale.

How do I wear my Kiwa Belt?
Wear your belt low and firmly around your hips (as not to put pressure on your diaphragm when breathing). This is also the best place to wear it to prevent it sliding up around your waist. If you have excess tail, tuck it safely as shown below (this is the quick-release tuck), therefore the belt can easily be quick-released in an emergency if the tail end is pulled.
